Who We Are The name of our firm derives from the metaphorical intersection of two well known streets in London that are each associated with two historical personalities representing the two branches of reasoning and inference, induction and deduction. Broad Street is associated with Dr. John Snow, recognized by those with training in infectious disease control as the father of modern epidemiology (an inductive, population-based disease control science) who solved the cause of a severe cholera epidemic in 1854 linked with a public pump on Broad Street. Baker Street, of course, is associated with the even more well known but fictional character of Sherlock Holmes, the detective hero created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and associated with the powers of deduction. The BroadBaker Group, Ltd. provides consulting services rooted in these sciences. We believe that our consulting assistance is best provided through developing a coaching or even mentoring relationship with the client, a rewarding relationship that is as important to the process as is the content information and knowledge conveyed. This relationship permits not only the collaborative development and discovery of vital knowledge and principles but provides the environment within which true organizational wisdom and insight can be developed, conveyed, and nurtured. BBG believes the nature of the relationship is vital to the success of the engagement. Besides possessing expertise in governance, quality improvement, the inferential sciences, and strategy, the firm has alliance relationships with prearranged experts with whom we work effectively and compatibly in conducting projects and serving its clients. Experts are in the areas of dynamic modeling, epidemiology and biostatistics, statistical process control, clinical office and health services management, process modeling and leaning, emergency medical services, organizational development and interpersonal dynamics. Clients have included both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. For-profit clients have been largely closely held corporations where governance transition between generations and ownership is important to survival. Our Nonprofit clients range from very large organizations (1.5 billion in assets), to tiny charities. Clients have included private schools, local governments, church and religious organizations, public service organizations, clinics, publicly elected hospital boards, large national associations, urban commissions, and international ministries. We are especially knowledgeable and experienced at the governance level in faith-based organizations such as missions, associations, churches, urban ministries, colleges, and schools. We are able to provide knowledgeable governance consulting and Policy GovernanceŽ support to these organizations. Our effectiveness is in the synergy we create for the client in bringing together the unique mix of these applicable areas to best solve the client's problem. Our central geographical location is an advantage in giving us an easy and direct reach to most major metropolitan areas and, consequently, lower travel costs for our clients.
